Sorry it was such a bummer. "Duty" pales in comparison when you suddenly find out that you're a mom, doesn't it? Sorry about the shiner. Have I told you the story of how I bit though my tongue with the help of one bassett hound the second night that we were home from China while staying up all night with my screaming, jet-lagged child? Husband found us BOTH sitting on the floor, holding each other and wailing. I was the one bleeding. The dog was banished. So, so sad.
