I found my relative this morning-he died a few days before the fire. Old age and all that, not surprising-but the chaos around the fire delayed us finding out. Life is so strange, here I was worrying about him being in the path of the fire… anyway, didn’t want to leave that comment hanging out there. ~lmc

And to think that as a toddler I used the fruit of the avocado tree in the backyard of the house on Honolulu Terrace in Whittier (at the botom of the firebreak road) only to konk my baby sister on the noggin!

Avocado trees are funny, aren’t they? We have one that drops a bunch of leaves one year, then pops off a couple weensy fruits another.

Anyway, you, thanks for the update. I’m glad that they found something better than Denny’s and that their home is ok. I’m sure it will be great to have R back home for both you and Ms. Bee. XO

Whew. Glad they’re safe and have a place to return to. Too bad about the avocadoes…the media say the avocado crop is ruined this year.
