What I Wish I Had Written…

Here is a post from my dear friend Maia that says nearly exactly what I want to say about my adoption: Perfect. (And I assure you I don’t just admire it for the kind words she said about my own blogs…she’s a gem, though, for that. :) )

It’s high time there was a more genuinely positive discourse about SN adoptions out there. Back in the day, I was never one of those people who ever thought I could “handle” it either. I just wanted a kid, quicker. Thank god we have the ability to learn, to be transformed.

  2. Interesting. I don’t think of Maxine as particularly “special”, either, as in the kind of “scary-short-bus-special-OMFG-I-can’t-handle-it” way that I keep hearing in the voices of some of the fiercely NSN PAPs. Wonder what that says about her - and about me.

OTOH, I’d love to hear from you on the same subject; both for your intellectual take AND the quality of your voice. I haven’t the wisdom nor the literary skill but I may have to take a hack at this myself. There’s a lot to this conversation…

  3. Aw, thanks for linking. You know that you and Emme were a huge part of our journey (and will always be a big part of our lives!). I can’t wait for our girls to know on another!
